The hand drawn and hand painted porcelain pendant was fired to 2350 degrees Fahrenheit in a salt kiln. Back is glazed in a khaki yellow-green. Sterling silver bails go with the piece. The cable necklace is optional. Use your own chain if you wish. 1" x 1.5"
These pieces of jewelry are all one of a kind. I choose artistically interesting sections of larger salt fired porcelain shards, then grind them with diamond tools to the shapes I want. I smooth the edges till they feel silky like beach glass.
Salt firing lends many surprises and much depth in the clay and glazesurface to draw upon. Re-framing the artwork in smaller and interesting shapes is a fresh way to see the designs. I'm loving this new work and hope you do as well.
